Getting to El Tránsito
Choosing El Transito over SJDS for your weekend getaway from Managua will save you 4 hours of driving! SJDS is literally three times farther than El Tránsito. There are several options for getting to El Tránsito once you arrive in Managua. Buses run daily and are very inexpensive. Other options include shared microbuses or private taxis. You can also rent a car relatively cheaply in Managua. Expect about an hour drive with the last 10 km or so on dirt roads that are well maintained and passable by just about any type of vehicle.
Managua to El Tránsito takes about an hour.
Managua to San Juan del Sur takes almost 3 hours.
