About Casa de Los Cocos Hostel

Welcome to Casa de los Cocos Surf Lodgeβan El Transito Hotel just steps from some of Nicaraguas best waves. Eat incredibly well with private-chef service and room service: gourmet breakfast, lunch, and dinner made to order.
El TrΓ‘nsito β’ What makes it epic
- Left point that runs: long, workable walls with multiple link-up sections.
- Bonus peaks: punchier rights down the beach when the sandbars are tuned.
- Friendly bathymetry: reef ledges with sand-bottom takeoff zones + safe reform inside.
- Easy paddles: predictable channels/rips help you return to the takeoff quickly.
- Wind engine: frequent morning offshores/glassy windows keep faces smooth.
- Tide tolerance: rides at several tides; rising mid-tide usually adds push and length.
- Swell window: south-to-west swells light it up; combo swells link the point to the inside.
- Warm water: trunks/shorty most of the yearβbring a rashguard for sun.
- Crowd factor: typically lighter than the big-name zones nearby.
- All levels: outside point for intermediates/advanced; forgiving reforms for lessons.
- Local insight: moon + tide timing mattersβask the Casa de Los Cocos crew for the dayβs window.
- Heads-up: watch rocks at lower tides, urchins by the reef, and fishing pangasβrespect the lineup.
Stay your way: rent the whole house or book a single room and enjoy AC suites, an infinity pool, and a beautiful, laid-back base for nonstop surf.

El TrΓ‘nsito lights up on SW to SSW swells (180Β°β215Β°), but it also handles clean W pulses and even some NW energy under 290Β°. Medium periods under 16s are ideal β once it stretches beyond that, the main bay can shut down. Donβt worry though, there are other breaks within walking distance that thrive on long-period juice.
Seasons & Winds
While most of Nicaragua fires in MayβOctober, here we love the so-called βoff seasonβ (NovβMar) β itβs rarely under waist-high. Offshore breezes blow steady from the NE/E, keeping the faces clean without turning brutal. Water stays warm year-round, though you might want a 1mm top JanβMar.
The Breaks
The main beach is a sandy beachbreak with mellow walls, playful barrel sections, and medium-length rides β friendly for all levels. Best from waist to 1ft overhead, especially on an incoming tide, but it breaks across most tides.
